History of Clamshell Beach Resort
A Legacy of Lakeside Leisure
Development of Clamshell Beach Resort Started in 1936 when about 600 feet of lakeshore on Clamshell Lake was purchased and seasonal cabins were built. The resort was later owned by famous Whitefish area fishing guides, George and Rollie Johnson.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback great, Fran Tarkenton, vacationed at Clamshell Beach in the early 1960s. In the late 1990’s The resort was purchased by the Moe Family and they changed the resort from a seasonal resort to a year around resort and made Clamshell what it is today which is a great small resort with big resort amenities.
